Our Fabric Paint is the perfect accompaniment to our wooden printing blocks. For use on paper and card as well as on fabric projects. All our colours can be mixed, so you can create your own signature colours.

It is easy to use, easy to clean and will not cause damage or clog the delicate carved designs. ALL purchases come with an instruction leaflet.

Don’t be put off by the name – there’s nothing basic about them. They are professional quality. Semi-opaque, water-based textile paint of excellent and durable quality for light cotton, linen and other textiles. It is the same paint as is used in the ‘Block Craft Fabric Paint’ – they use this to blend their own colours. After heat setting (see instructions in description below), the colours look great after being washed at 40 degrees.

The Textile Color range of fabric paints are named as follows –
* BASIC are for light cotton, linen and other textiles. These have the consistency of pouring cream.
* SOLID are for dark cotton, linen and other textiles. Much thicker, these have the consistency of greek yogurt.

We recommend you decant into 60ml refillable bottles for easier use & to save wastage (available on this listing). See attached photos of gift bags, paper & fabrics all printed using this range of basic fabric paint.

Fabulous value for money at only £12 for 500ml. We keep our prices lower than most to make creativity more accessible to all.

This is the only paint we recommend you use with our wooden printing blocks – it is easy to use, easy to clean, and will not clog any of the intricate carved details.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
These fabric paints are specifically designed for use on light coloured natural fibre fabrics.
The paint physically bonds with the fabric, it doesn’t sit on the surface – once printed and ironed you cannot feel the paint in the texture of the fabric.
Allow paints 24 hours of drying time, and then the fabric needs to be heat set using a DRY IRON (no steam).
Iron with printed side facing up, place a piece of baking paper between the painted fabric and the iron.
Set the iron to a temperature suitable for cotton and iron for FIVE minutes. PLEASE NOTE: it must be heat fixed for washable durability.
Once heat set, fabric paints can be machine washed (inside out or in a garment bag) at a maximum of 40C.

Please Note: The Basic White colour is for mixing with dark colours to create pastel shades, or with black to create grey shades. Looking for a white paint to show on dark fabrics or other projects? You will need to buy the Solid White colour listed here.

I would highly recommend Dots and Blocks for all your Indian Block Printing needs. On placing a large first order, I realised I had got my email address wrong on the order, although panic set in, I needn’t have worried as Karen tracked me down on Instagram and sorted it all out for me. After this, delivery was quick,  the products were excellent and the package had a real personal touch. I will definitely be returning for more blocks and paint, as the choice is excellent as well.
