Frequently Asked Questions
At Dots & Blocks we listen to the feedback received and comments made by our customers at shows and events. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions relating to our products, stockists and workshops. Designed to help you find out more information, email us if this section doesn’t give you the answers you are looking for. All feedback is positively welcomed!
All our Inspirational Quote Canvas Art Boards are supplied with a hanger securely glued to the back, so all you require at home is a nail in the wall. Of course, they would also look great standing on a bookcase or mounted on an easel too. The choice is yours, we just take the hassle out of it for you.
Yes. All our fabrics are printed with specialist fabric paints (both for block printing and for screen printing), and will not come off the fabric during use or wear, nor will they rub off or run if you are caught out in the rain.
Care instructions are provided within the individual item listings in the shop, and upon point of sale all hand printed fabric pieces come with care instructions (which is especially handy for you to know if you are giving our creations as a gift!).
As to whether the items are truly washable or not depends on the item being printed. All of our hand printed cotton tea towels, cotton shawls and viscose scarves can be hand washed and dried naturally, and can be ironed if needed.
As a general rule, the ONLY fabric items that cannot be washed are the cotton tote bags. These are not designed by the manufacturers to be stable for laundering, they will shrink (usually about 10% shrinkage) and the seams may twist. However, you are perfectly safe to spot clean them if you get any marks or spills on them.
Here at Dots & Blocks we have tested these things so you can enjoy your pieces without the need to worry.

Please contact us if you have any concerns about access, or anxiety about group settings. We offer creative workshops in your own home to make these sessions more accessible for you.
Our founder (Karen) who runs all our workshops has previously suffered with severe stress, depression and anxiety with panic attacks, and was house bound for a year. She suffers from chronic health issues that challenge her physical and mental health, and is more than happy to arrange something to suit your needs.
We supply all of the materials and tools for every workshop that we run. However there is one thing that you can bring with you if you have one – a crafty apron to protect your clothing from paints. Don’t worry if you don’t have one – we supply disposable plastic ones.
If you would like to bring your own tools or materials, please just let us know first.
Our workshops are generally suitable for adults of all ages – be aware that we talk about mental health, anxiety, stress and depression during these sessions. If you would like to have a child accompany you on one of our workshops, we recommend the following ages:
Block Printing ages 10+
Dot Mandalas ages 10+
Quote Art ages 15+
Feel free to contact us to discuss your needs further.
I’m afraid not, although if you join our mailing list we’ll send you details of any last-minute availability. Or you can contact us by 8pm on the evening before a desired workshop to see if we still have spaces.
Workshop bookings tend to be seasonal, so we organise most of them in the spring and summer months of the year.
We’re always very keen to hear about any workshops that you’d like to see offered by Dots & Blocks. Please let us know if there’s something that you would like to learn, and we’ll do our very best to arrange it for you.
